Welcome to the Talalla Yoga Retreat

Dive into Sri Lanka’s rich culture, deepen your yoga practice, learn about the different aspects of yoga in our workshops, and make new friends during your one-week stay at Talalla Retreat. Our yoga retreats run from Sunday afternoon through Saturday morning. We run weekly retreats throughout each month as an all-inclusive program including:

We offer 2 x weekly Yoga themes

Our yoga retreats are lead by our incredible team of professional and experienced international yoga teachers in our open-air yoga shalas to create a relaxed, tranquil and natural environment. We offer 2 x signature yoga retreats, “Living Yoga” and “Energy Body Exploration,” to provide an opportunity to deepen your yoga practice and learn about different aspects of yoga philosophy. We welcome everyone from beginners to advanced practitioners from all backgrounds to join us on retreat.

You’ll have daily scheduled classes and workshops to deepen your practice, with also plenty of spare time to enjoy relaxing by the pool, learn to surf with one of our surf coaches, swim in the ocean, visit the local village, indulge in a spa treatment, experience the true culture of Sri Lanka during our half day excursion, and make new connections with other yogis on retreat!

Yoga Retreat Themes: The Foundation of Our Experience

Week 1: Fall in Love with your Practice

This retreat is a dedication to deepen your yoga practice. We emphasize a holistic approach to expand your understanding of the full spectrum of yoga.

This retreat invites the opportunity to explore more then just the physical movements. We invite you to adventure further into the ancient practice of yoga and all that it encompasses.

The workshops will focus on “Yoga philosophy”, “Asana Alignment” and “Create Your Sadhana – How to Develop a Home Practice”, as a perfect recipe to fall even more in love with yoga.

Weekly Excursion : Elephant Safari – this week we head to Udawalawe National Park to visit the Sri Lankan wildlife. After we get into our jeep, we take a journey through the park to spot Elephants & other native animals in their natural habitat.

Week 3: Yoga Recharge and Renew

Sometimes we need to take a moment to stop restore and renew. This week’s offering focuses on releasing unnecessary stress that can so easily become our reality, with a holistic approach to finding wholeness in the body mind and soul. To heal is to become whole, to let go of the things that are no longer serving and invite the fulness that you are.

Enjoy teachings of embodied yogic philosophy, meditation and breath-work, and yoga practice of vitalising vinyasa each morning and restorative practices in the evenings. Through the tools of yoga allow your self to sooth through the essence of restoration.

The workshops focus on “Alignment & Myofascial Release”, “Embodied Philosophy” and “Pranayama & Meditation”

Week 2: Energy Body Exploration

This retreat offers a transformative journey through the chakras to find union of body mind and soul. This opportunity in studying the chakras is to learn how to master each one’s essence and unite them all into a unified field of abundance. Through learning, analysing and healing the attributes of each chakra one can experience balance in all areas of life both internal and external. Knowledge of our subtle energy system empowers us to maintain balance and harmony on the physical, mental and spiritual level.

The workshops will focus on “Introduction to the Energetic Self”, “Empowered Wisdom” and “Open to Bliss: Biodynamic Healing”

Weekly Excursion : Mulkirigala Rock Temple-an ancient Buddhist heritage site over 2,000 years old!  On the way back, we stop by Hiriketya Beach to have a fabulous lunch and dip in the pool at Jasper House (Talalla’s beautiful sister property).

Week 4: Alchemy of the Elements

The Alchemy of the elements invites on a journey through the 5 mahabhutas – the 5 elements – earth, water, fire air and Space. The building blocks of creation. Through the marriage of yoga and Ayurveda this retreat explores the foundations of the elements and how they can be cultivated to create a wholesome and balanced experience.

Each day is dedicated to one of the 5 elements practiced through yoga, specialty workshops, journaling and meditation. Through the ancient wisdom of eastern philosophy and Ayurveda we learn how to harness the foundations to find a balanced life.

Weekly Excursion: A visit to WeCare Veterinary to see the puppies! WeCare are a NFP animal charity providing free veterinary care to less fortunate animals around the world. We then take a trip to the nearby “Golden Buddha Temple” to offer our prayers and blessings.

    (1st MAY – 30th NOVEMBER) More than 7 days prior to arrival: no charge. Less than 7 days prior to arrival, loss of 20% deposit. Early departures will be charged 20% of the remaining booking cost. (1st DECEMBER – 30th APRIL) Cancellations during peak period, less than 7 days prior to arrival or No Shows: loss of deposit (20% of booking cost) or one nightʼs accommodation – whichever is greater. Early departures will be charged 20% of the remaining booking cost, except in December and January when early departures will be obligated to pay full remaining booking cost. Please note that refunds can only be processed to the credit card used to make the booking and may take up to 28 days. PLEASE NOTE THAT A 20% DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED TO BOOK YOUR YOGA RETREAT. THE REMAINING BALANCE IS DUE UPON THE FIRST DAY OF ARRIVAL.
