A wellness retreat where real change begins.

Talalla is a wellness retreat on Sri Lanka’s south coast, and a place where real change begins. Over seven nights and eight days, you step out of your normal life and into something deeper — a reset. A chance to move your body, challenge old patterns, and reconnect with what actually makes you feel alive.

Through yoga, pilates, breathwork, stillness, and time in nature, you’ll be asked to show up — for your body, your mind, and yourself. Some moments will be gentle. Some will be uncomfortable. That’s where growth lives.

You’ll also rest, eat beautifully, swim in the ocean, and laugh with new friends. But this week is about more than switching off — it’s about tuning in.

Welcome to the work. Welcome to the shift. Welcome to Talalla.

The Programme

What happens during your week

Every session is optional, your retreat, your rhythm. The schedule adapts to the group and may vary depending on weather and group size.

01 · Daily

Yoga

Yoga is a core part of the retreat, led by our experienced teachers. Sessions are accessible, well-structured, and designed to support strength, mobility, and presence. The retreat also includes aerial yoga sessions that helps release tension, decompress the spine, and support deep relaxation.

02 · Daily

Pilates by the Ocean

Move into a reformer Pilates session in our ocean-view studio, accessible for all levels. Mindful movement meets functional strength as you build stability, improve posture, and realign your body. This is your time to feel strong, supported, and deeply connected to your body. Each reformer is paired with a mat, giving you the option to enjoy the session on the reformer or from the mat.

Heat therapy supports recovery and relaxation, while the cold plunge sharpens presence and builds resilience. Floating in the magnesium pool is the perfect finishing touch.

Weekly workshops including inversion play, aerial yoga, dance sessions, intro into kundalini, and more – designed to introduce you to new wellness activities and provide you with practical tools to take home.

MEET the team

Melanie

Melanie discovered yoga while travelling India in 2009. She continued to deepen her practice after returning home to California, gradually expanding her asana-focused work to explore pranayama, meditation, mantra and bhakti chanting, kundalini kriya, and Usui Reiki healing.

She has completed 700+ hours of teacher training across restorative, yoga therapeutics, prenatal, and aerial, and continues to study with Kia Miller’s Radiant Body Yoga program. She also holds a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology Movement Sciences from San Francisco State University.

Melanie shares a holistic approach to yoga, viewing the different modalities as maps to explore the layers of our human experience. Students describe her teaching style as nurturing, inspiring, and accessible to practitioners of all levels. She first taught at Talalla from 2016 to 2018 and is back to share yoga as a journey to wholeness.

Common Questions

Retreat FAQs

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely, we encourage it. Lots of people attend our retreats solo, so you’ll almost certainly meet like-minded individuals in the same position.

Our retreats are open and inclusive to
anyone interested in taking a break from everyday life to look after themselves.

There is no requirement to have attended a class before. Sometimes an immersive experience is just what you need to acquire a new skill and the confidence to continue when
you get home.

No matter your age, fitness, or physical ability, our team will adapt sessions to your needs.

Of course. Everything in the retreat schedule is optional. If you need more time to yourself, there are many places on the property, and the beach, to relax at your own pace.

Yes. Three fresh meals a day are included, with a mix of Western and Sri Lankan dishes from our on-site restaurant.

We cater for vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets, and the kitchen can cater for allergies with advance notice, so let us know before you arrive and we’ll look after you.

Talalla is on Sri Lanka’s south coast. Most guests fly into Colombo and travel down to us from there, roughly a three hour drive.

Get in touch with your arrival details and we can arrange a private transfer for you: $100 from Colombo to Talalla, and $90 for the return. We’ll take care of it so you can settle in without the stress.

Yes. Every session is optional and our teachers adapt each class to the group, so it works whether it’s your first ever yoga or Pilates class or you practise every week. There’s no age or fitness requirement, come exactly as you are.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes. A retreat is the perfect getaway to make new memories with your favourite people.

If you’d like to share a room, choose our double or triple options when booking.

Sri Lanka has a tropical climate, but because of climate change the weather is increasingly unpredictable. Rainy season really just means a short rain shower at some point in the day, the rest of the time it’s sunny and tropical. Come when suits your schedule best.

We have laundry facilities on site, so no need to overpack. We suggest lightweight, breathable clothes for practice, something to swim in, clothing that covers legs and shoulders for temple visits, mosquito repellent and suncream, a reusable water bottle, and a journal. We provide towels, shower gel, yoga mats, and all equipment.

That’s up to you. A retreat is a lovely chance to step away from your screen, but we know some people need to stay reachable. WiFi covers the whole property, and there are plenty of quiet corners if you’d rather switch off.

No. Our single room rates are priced for one person rather than a double rate with a surcharge added, so what you see is what you pay. You’ll be part of a small group from the start, so it’s easy to settle in solo.

We recommend all guests travel with insurance that covers your trip and medical cover while you’re away, just in case anything changes.
