6 NIGHTS AT TALALLA

3 DELICIOUS MEALS PER DAY

Your retreat includes x3 nourishing meals per day prepared by our chefs and served at our on-site restaurant. 

Enjoy a buffet-style banquet with brand new dishes served daily so you can indulge in a choice of traditional Sri Lankan and Western cuisines.

We are very happy to cater to any dietary requirements, just let us know upon booking!

2 DAILY yoga CLASSES

Every day on the retreat begins with yoga, and ends with yoga.

Your morning practice will typically be hatha/vinyasa or ashtanga, and your evening class will be a restorative slow flow or yin class.

Every yoga class at Talalla is 90minutes in length and includes meditation, pranayama and asana, as it is traditionally practiced.

We have five beautiful open-air shalas on the property that will get to practice in!

No matter your experience on the mat, a yoga class at Talalla will be tailored to your ability. Yoga is for everyone at any stage of life.

3 yoga workshops

During your retreat we will host three yoga workshops to explore the depths of yoga practice, both on and off the mat.

These workshops are designed to give you the confidence every time you get on the mat to tune in and connect to your purpose.

PHILOSOPHY – let’s uncover the ancient philosophical values that underpin yoga to gain a more holistic understanding of its origins and purpose.

MEDITATION & PRANAYAMA – breathwork and meditation are big buzzwords in the wellness space, but where does this come from and how can be practice this as part of our yoga practice?

ALIGNMENT & ADJUSTMENT – let’s deconstruct the postures we all know and love to ensure we get the most out of our time on the mat and cultivate longevity in our bodies through safe alignment.

2 CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

Your retreat includes x2 cultural immersion activities to explore the rich culture of Sri Lanka…

COOKING CLASS – Learn how to create traditional Sri Lankan dishes straight from the locals.

BUDDHIST TEMPLE VISIT – Join us on a journey by Tuktuk to visit an ancient Buddhist temple and learn more about ancient meditation practices that can enhance your wellbeing in your life back home.

MEET your host

Hi, I’m Tamsin! I’ll be your retreat host at Talalla. My approach to yoga is rooted in the belief that yoga is for everyone, offering a practice that is inclusive, accessible, and free from the pressures of perfection.

Originally from Northern Ireland, I began my journey over a decade ago as a student, seeking balance while working as a creative in the fast-paced world of advertising. My time in the industry increased my awareness of the harrowing extent to which modern life perpetuates nervous system dysregulation. Through it all, yoga remained my sanctuary and reignited a deep passion for the practice, which led me to want to share its transformative power with others.

After completing my teacher training, I quickly established myself in the UK, building a dedicated following and creating a supportive community. In search of new horizons, I left the UK to expand my reach internationally, teaching in Bali, deepening my practice in India, and hosting retreats in Sri Lanka.

My teaching blends the timeless and traditional  wisdom of yoga with a modern, approachable style that is both sustainable and empowering. In my classes, you can expect clear guidance, a focus on breath and body awareness, and a reminder that sometimes, less truly means more – on and off the mat.

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. 

We know that the decision to book a retreat is a big investment into yourself, and sometimes that journey is a path you need to embark on solo.

Lots of people that attend our retreats come on their own, so we can almost guarantee you will meet likeminded individuals in the same position as you.

We’re also more than happy to host friends and family groups too – the more the merrier! Our retreats are open & inclusive to anyone interested in taking a break from everyday life to look after themselves.

Yes! A retreat is the perfect getaway to make some new memories with your favourite people. If you’d like to share a room with your friend(s), you can choose our double/triple options under the room selection.

There is no requirement to have attended a yoga class before – let alone being a pro!

Sometimes an immersive experience like this is just what you need to acquire a new skill & the confidence to continue the habit when you return home.

We all start somewhere, no matter your age, fitness or physical ability, our team are here to cater to you and adapt classes to your specific needs.

Having said that, if you have a bunch of yoga experience, this is a great stop-off to learn more and deepen your understanding of yoga. Lots of people that join us use this week as a stepping stone before committing to a teacher training. Our team are more than happy to broach the subject with you if you have any questions. 

Sri Lanka has a tropical climate that circulates through wetter and drier seasons, though because of climate change, the weather is increasingly becoming less predictable. In recent years our driest months have seen the highest rainfall!

We encourage you to choose your retreat dates to suit your schedule as globally weather is not always going to show up in the same ways they used to.

‘Rainy season’ really just means that it’s going to rain for a short while at some point in the day, but the rest of the time it’s sunny & tropical. Your weather app will show you rain everyday, but the portion of the day that it rains is not typically going to impact your time on the island. 

So when’s the best time of year to come? The time of year that suits you & your schedule best! We’ll be here to host you at Talalla.

Additionally, everything offered in our retreat schedules is optional. So if you decide you need some more ‘me time’, there are many places on our property (and the beach) that you can relax and unwind at your own pace.

Our schedules are designed so that you make the most out of your time with us, both physically and emotionally. But we know that every person is different. We all march to our own rhythms and have our own unique needs, so our staff members are always here to help you to feel comfortable at all times during your stay.

We have laundry facilities on site, so there is no need to overpack (easier said than done!)

Some bits we do encourage you to bring are…

  • Lightweight and breathable clothes to practice in (it can get sweaty in a tropical climate)
  • Something to swim in
  • Something that covers your legs & shoulders when exploring temples to respect local culture
  • Mosquito repellent (we also sell this in our shop)
  • Suncream – the Sri Lankan sun can be very strong (you can find this in our shop too)
  • A water bottle – we have refill stations on the property and encourage our guests to refrain from relying on single-use plastic
  • (Optional) A retreat can be the perfect time for self-reflection as you embark on a journey of personal growth. Bringing a journal and a pen to document your time with us can help to enrich your time.

 

We provide towels/shower gel and yoga mats/equipment.
