  • How can I find out if a room is available for my dates?
    • The best way to find out about availability is to click on the BOOK NOW link. Here, select the dates you are looking for, and you’ll be given an instant answer.
      Remember that there are options for both upstairs and downstairs rooms, so if one is not available, please check the other option.

  • How do I book accommodation?
    • Click on the BOOK NOW button at the top of every page. Select your dates, and choose either Standard First Floor or Standard Ground Floor. Then, choose your board basis and you’ll be given an instant quote.

      To reserve your room, you’ll be asked for a credit card deposit of 20%. Once through, your booking is confirmed instantly.

  • How do I book a Yoga Retreat, Wellness Retreat or Surf Camp?
    • Please visit the Yoga, Wellness, or Surf pages (in the menu above) to book retreats directly. On each page you'll find specific instructions for booking as well as various options for dates, packages, and skill level. To reserve your retreat, you’ll be asked for a credit card deposit of 20% to hold your spot.

  • Are the rates the same on all websites? I can see that you are on Booking.com and Agoda.
    • Yes, the rates are the same across all websites. Some websites list the prices pre-tax and some including taxes, but ultimately they are common rated.

      The prices on the Talalla website are fully inclusive of all taxes.

  • How do I book a budget room? I can’t seem to book it on the Website.
    • To book a budget room, please email info@talallaretreat.com with your dates and room type. You’ll then be asked to make a 20% deposit into our bank account in Colombo to confirm your booking.

  • What are the taxes in Sri Lanka?
    • There are three taxes in Sri Lanka that you must be aware of. VAT is 12%, Service Charge is typically 10% and Tourist Development Levy in this region is 1%.

  • How can I pay my bill at Talalla?
    • At Talalla, your tab will be paid upon checkout by cash, Mastercard or Visa. Regrettably we cannot accept debit cards or AMEX.

  • What do the different board bases mean?
    • Bed and breakfast includes breakfast. Half board includes breakfast and dinner. Full board includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you book on bed and breakfast, you can take lunch for USD8 and dinner for USD12.

  • Whats the difference between ground floor and first floor rooms?
    • First floor rooms have two open walls and a balcony. Ground floor rooms have two sides made of venetian wooden shutters, and a balcony.

  • Can our children come?
    • Children above the age of six are welcome at Talalla year-round, and those under the age of six are welcome from February 1st through December 20th.

      Children can only be accommodated in ground floor rooms due to safety concerns. Please note that if you book a first floor room and advise of a small child, your booking will be converted to a ground floor room.

      As all Big House rooms contain balconies, children cannot be accommodated in the Big House. Big House and Bungalow rooms are unable to be made into triple share.

      Please note that our pool is not fenced, and beach does not have lifeguard service.

  • Do you have wifi?
    • Yes, free wifi is available so you have the option of staying in touch with your family, friends, and the office. Our main router is in the resort Restaurant and although it’s definitely not as fast as you get at home, you can do the basics and Skype calls are possible.

  • Will I be able to get mobile phone reception?
    • Yes, the Location of the resort although relatively isolated does receive good cell and 3g coverage from local providers such as Dialog and Mobitel. Dont forget though when you’re abroad calls will be charged per minute. Calls received are also charged per minute.

  • Do children pay the full price?
    • Please see rates for – “Double + extra bed” charge. For two small beds in a standard room, extra bed charge is USD$10 per night (excl. of taxes and service charge).
      Children aged 6-9 years old will be charged 50% of food menu items. Children 10 years and over will be charged 100%. A complimentary cot is provided for children under two years old upon request. The cost of a local babysitter is approx R1,000 per day and is subject to availability.

  • Whats the cancellation policy?
    • Cancellation more than 7 days prior to arrival: no charge (except peak period December – April); Cancellations during peak period, less than 7 days prior to arrival or No Shows: loss of deposit (20% of booking cost) or one night’s accommodation – whichever is more. Early departures will be charged 20% of the remaining booking cost, except in December and January when early departures will be obligated to pay full remaining booking cost. Please note that refunds can only be processed to the credit card used to make the booking and may take up to 28 days.

  • Do you work with Travel Agents and Tour Operators?
    • Yes. Please email info@talallaretreat.com for a trade fact sheet.

  • Do you offer press rates?
    • All press stays are negotiated on an ad hoc basis due to the number of requests we receive. Please email marketing@talallaretreat.com with details of your proposed coverage to request a press stay.

  • Do you offer resident rates?
    • Resident rates for Sri Lankan residents or citizens are available with proof of residency during shoulder and off peak periods. Please email info@talallaretreat.com for a quote.

  • What if I need to change or cancel my booking?
    • Direct Bookings:
      Cancellations more than 7 days prior to arrival – No Charge (except peak period cancellations)
      Cancellations during PEAK PERIOD or less than 7 days prior to arrival, and no shows – No refund of deposit
      Early departures will be charged 20% of the remaining booking cost.
      From December 19th – January 31st(PEAK PERIOD) early departures will be required to pay full booking cost.
      Refunds can only be processed as a refund to the credit card details provided at the time of booking.

      Agent Bookings:
      All the payments should be made by 3days prior to the arrival.
      Cancellations more than 3 days prior to arrival – No Charge (except peak period cancellations)
      Cancellations during PEAK PERIOD or less than 3 days prior to arrival, and no shows – No refund.
      Early departures will be charged 20% of the remaining booking cost.
      From December 19th – January 31st(PEAK PERIOD) early departures will be required to pay full booking cost.

  • Do the rooms at Talalla have air conditioning?
    • All rooms at Talalla are open-sided and as bright and airy. Boasting generous open sky-marble bathrooms, and private balconies or patios with lush oasis views. All of our rooms are cooled by natural sea breezes and large ceiling fans, but we do have seven sea-view rooms with air conditioning units installed.

  • Do the rooms have safes for valuables?
    • Yes. All rooms of our rooms do have lockers even big enough for laptops and cameras.

  • Do I need to bring an electrical adaptor to charge my things in Sri Lanka?
    • Sri Lanka uses Type D electrical plugs and sockets. Known as the Old British Plug it can often be found in countries that were originally electrified by the British. It has three large round pins in a triangular configuration, Travelling with a surge protector is always a good idea as power surges and inconsistent currents are common. Adaptors are provided in all rooms at Talalla, so if you forget, its not a problem.
